Great Himalayan National Park

The Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP), is one of India's national parks, is located in Kullu region in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The park was established in 1984 and is spread over an area of 1171 km2 at an altitude of between 1500 and 6000 m. Fore more details please visit - https://www.greathimalayannationalpark.org

GHNP was awarded UNESCO World Heritage Site status in June 2014, in recognition of its outstanding significance for biodiversity conservation. The park protects over 1,000 plant species, including many medicinal herbs, 31 mammal species and 209 bird species, as well as amphibians, reptiles and insects. Four of GHNP’s mammal species and three of its bird species are globally threatened, including the musk deer and the western horned tragopan.

Sarchi

Sarchi is a pretty village located high up (approx 2200 m) in the mountains and is a base for the climb to Lambri Top. A small road goes to the village of Sarchi, which is 22 km from ShivAdyaTirthan. The road to Sarchi begins at the base of the valley, a right turn on a bridge before Gushaini and climbs through beautiful deodar forests. The road offers great views of the valley below and the Great Himalayan National Park mountain range.

Sarchi village is set amidst apple orchards and is a traditional village with local architecture and houses made of wood.

Tinder

Tinder is a small village on boundary of GHNP. An excursion to Tinder would provide you with an opportunity to view the daily life of a remote Himalayan village, meeting simple village folks and a visit to the beautiful tower temple.

Tinder is about 30-40 minutes drive away from ShivAdya Tirthan.

Seolsar Lake

Seolsar (also Saryolsar) is a prettily-located small lake, accessed by a 6 km trek through beautiful oak and cedar forests from Jalori Pass. The waters of the lake are crystal clear and there is an old temple too near the lake. The temple is of goddess Buddhi Nagin is highly revered by the locals. It is a great way to get initiated in the World hiking for beginners and camp in the midst of nature at comfortable altitudes.

The trail to Saryolsar Lake begins just behind the temple at Jalori Pass.

Raghupur Fort

A hike from Jalori Pass to the nearby Raghupur Fort that offers 360 degree valley views that stretch as far as the Dhauladhar ranges. Raghupur Fort, also known as RaghupurGarh, is approximately a 3 km trek from Jalori Pass and is a ruined fort with hardly a few walls standing. The walk to Raghupur Fort passes through a lovely forest and has spectacular views of the mountains.

As you reach the meadows where the fort is located, there are unbelievable views that stretch as far as your eyes can see. Origin and building year of the fort is not known.

Angling in Tirthan River

Tirthan river is famous for Trout Fishing. Fishing season begins from 1st Mar till 31st May and allowed again from 1st Aug to 31st Oct. You have excellent opportunities to take up Angling as a sport here in Tirthan and enjoy fishing Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout and Barbel fishes in river Tirthan.

Bird Watching in Tirthan

Tirthan valley alongwith Great Himalayan National Park is home to 200+ species of birds. The setting of Tirthan valley with dense forest covers, river & streams, villages and a variety of flora makes it a heaven for birds and enchanting for bird lovers. Bird watchers throng Tirthan valley to enjoy watching a wide number of birds.
